Health Projects
The medical needs of Africa’s population are staggering. HIV/AIDS, malaria, cholera, malnutrition and parasites all take their toll. Life expectancies are low. African children are especially hard hit, both in mortality rates (a child dies in Africa every three seconds), and in the numbers who are orphaned by sickness and disease. Half of Africa’s population is stricken with water-related diseases such as cholera and infant diarrhea. 27.7 million Africans suffer from HIV/AIDS cases worldwide. In fact, one in six African children will die before the age of five, most from preventable causes. And the tragic statistics go on.
The scope of Africa’s medical and health care problems makes the idea of real transformation daunting. And yet, it is in these places of overwhelming need that African Leadership is forming project partnerships with local church leaders, enabling them to extend God’s mercy in practical and life-giving ways. Our motivation for serving the sick in Africa is one of compassion and simple obedience to the instructions of Christ.
