HEKO HIV/AIDS Health & Nutrition Education & Counseling

The Heritage Kenya Organization (HEKO) is a ministry in the Kibera slum of Nairobi founded by a graduate of African Leadership’s Bible Training Center for Pastors program, Monica Odero, and her husband Peter. This organization seeks to minister to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Kibera. The goal of this project is to improve the health and nutritional status of People Living with HIV/AIDS through health and nutrition education for both them and home based care givers and through counseling. This would be accomplished through health and nutrition education sessions, counseling sessions, education support, food supplements, and capitalization of income generating activities.

Proposal

Funds are needed to operate this education and counseling program, as well as the supplemental feeding and income generating aspects of this program. The Oderos have also expressed a desire to build a center to house this ministry (it currently operates out of the Odero’s home, which limits the reach of the program).

Total Need

$40,000
