Orphans Projects
Africa’s children bear the brunt of a continent’s suffering. Not only are thye the passive victims of high mortality rates (one in six will die before the age of five), but they’re also left alone to deal with the fallout as record numbers of adults die from HIV/AIDS and other causes. To date, more than 15 million African children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Sickness, starvation, unclean water, wars, famines, malnutrition and abuse all take their toll on Africa’s children as well. Every day 30,000 African children die from a combination of disease-infested water and malnutrition. Others are kidnapped and forced into lives of cruelty and brutality as child soldiers.
Those fortunate enough to avoid the ravages of war and disease still have little hope for betterment of their situations. According to the United Nations almost half of the school-age population in Africa, close to 46 million children, have never been to school.
But where there is great need there is also great opportunity. African Leadership is involved in numerous project partnerships extending the mercy and love of God in service to the children of Africa. Feeding programs, schools, orphan care, sports ministries and medical treatments and facilities have all been a part of our partnership strategy, empowering local churches and pastors to serve the physical and spiritual needs of children in their villages and communities.
