Unemployment Projects
In the region of Southern Africa, unemployment is at a staggering 31.6 percent. Throughout all of sub-Saharan Africa, the unemployment rate for young men averages 23.1 percent. 46 percent of the total population of sub-Saharan Africa lives on less than $1 a day.
The toll of such high rates of unemployment must be measured in terms not only of poverty, but also of hunger, crushing hopelessness that leads to alcoholism and crime, loss of dignity, and of sickness and disease that go untreated for lack of funds. To restore dignity and hope to African men and women, African Leadership is forming project partnerships with local church leaders to expand their vocational, job-training, and micro-enterprise programs. These programs are often conducted in tandem with discipleship training, and have a tangible impact on lives, families and communities, as graduates are empowered to provide for themselves and their dependents.
