Growing Food, Income, and Opportunity

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES, SUSTAINING FUTURES

Sustainable fish farming

A fish pond can become more than a source of food. It can become a source of income.

In Madagascar, African Leadership’s fish farming program helps participants use practical skills gained through construction and entrepreneurship training to build and manage their own farms.

Each farm creates access to affordable protein while helping families generate income they can depend on. The program follows a shared-investment model. Each fish pond costs $5,000 to build, stock, and feed during the first year. Participants raise $2,500, and African Leadership matches the remaining amount.

This approach encourages ownership and accountability, helping families create sustainable livelihoods for the future.
