Parents And Teachers Gather For Community Education Forum

March 2026 | Khayelitsha School, South Africa

Parents, teachers, and community members recently came together at Khayelitsha School for a community education forum focused on strengthening support for students both inside and outside the classroom.

The event provided families with an opportunity to meet directly with teachers, discuss student progress, and learn more about current educational activities taking place at the school. Conversations covered topics such as attendance, classroom participation, reading development, student well-being, and the importance of maintaining a positive learning environment at home.

Teachers shared updates on academic programs, classroom achievements, and areas where additional support could help students continue progressing. Parents were encouraged to ask questions, provide feedback, and share their experiences regarding the challenges and opportunities facing their children.

The forum also highlighted the important role families play in student success. Discussions focused on creating stronger connections between home and school, supporting regular attendance, encouraging reading habits, and helping children develop confidence in their learning journey.

Several parents shared personal stories about how access to education and daily support at Khayelitsha School has positively impacted their families. For many caregivers, particularly single parents, the school provides not only education but also a reliable environment where children can learn, receive nutritious meals, and build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers.

The event concluded with an open community discussion about future school activities, parent engagement opportunities, and ways to continue improving educational outcomes for students.

Community education forums remain an important part of the school's commitment to collaboration, ensuring that families, educators, and local leaders work together to create opportunities for every child to learn, grow, and thrive.
